Business has often been defined as “Production or purchase and sale of goods with an objective of profit and acquiring wealth through satisfaction of human wants.” But what when it produces and sells goods contrary to what is really best for us?
Companies need to realize that profits aren’t the only things that matter; neither can they any longer afford to go on with business as usual. They can no longer afford to ignore the socio-economic effects that they have on society and the environment.
Given the magnitude of problems facing us, there is so much potential for creating a positive impact on society and earning a leap in value for both parties. This is probably the most exciting time to be doing business. All it needs is making the right choice; and a re-alignment of the values that lie at its very core.
