Consuming less is one of the most effective ways of moving towards a more sustainable future and stemming many of the problems we face today. An interesting trend emerging, which enables this shift away from consumerist thinking, is collective sharing.
This interest in collective sharing has given rise to businesses such as Drive Now, Car2Go, Airbnb and countless others which provide more sustainable alternatives to the traditional car rentals and accommodation options respectively.
Community sharing is also on the rise at the micro level too, where closed communities are increasingly sharing things amongst themselves rather than individually buying things they use on an occasional basis, such as a drilling machine for example. While not good news for companies, it certainly is music to the planet’s ears.
