Will the real culprit please stand up?

We all know the effects about global warming, but here’s something that’s ironic about Global Warming: The people most affected by it are the ones that had the least part to play in the problems leading to it.

While America and Europe have governments and developed economies which can run air conditioned or heated shelters for its homeless, parts of the developing world (Asia, Africa and South America) cannot. Asia is home to some of the largest slums in the world and India and China account for a little more than 1/3rd of the world’s population. Until the turn of this century, these two countries had almost no part to play in the problems caused by theĀ industrialized nations of Europe, the USA and Australia.

It’s true that in hindsight maybe some of these countries would have behaved more responsibly if they knew the extent of the problems they were creating. While we cannot go back in time and fix what’s been undone, isn’t it time these so-called superpowers put their hand up and assist countries facing the brunt of their actions?
