While reusing and recycling are two major components of a sustainable future, another new trend gaining momentum is renewing, i.e. re-creating things from old ones. This comes into play for products which can no longer be used for the original purpose they were intended for, but can be re-shaped to create a different product using the materials of the original product.
A very interesting example being BICYCLED, a company that takes one form of transportation from the scrapyard and turns it into your new form of transportation. This process not only helps in emptying out landfills, but also saves the energy that would have been used to recycle the old object as well as energy that would have been used for manufacturing the materials for the new product.
You must’ve heard of killing two birds with one stone; how about killing three?
