The average supermarket in the west has about one million kilometers of standing plastic. This means what if you were to line up all the plastic items in the supermarket one after the other, you could circle the Earth about 25 times.
Plastic, once hailed as a great boon, is also quickly turning into a bane for the environment. It is filling up landfills, landing in our oceans, in the stomach of food we eat (sea life) and we can find it in increasing concentrations in our environment. You hardly think twice before buying stuff in single use plastic containers at the supermarket. It hardly costs anything, to you anyways.
Just so you know, it’s OUR Environment that ends up paying dearly for the hidden cost of your mindless plastic consumption.
