Each day that we carry on with our business as usual approach, we’re losing about 150-200 species. No, I don’t mean 200 animals; I mean 200 species of plants, birds and animals that become extinct – never to be found again.
Sure, the extinction of species is a natural process and has been something that’s been going on since millions of years. What is alarming though, is the rate at which this is taking place – about 1000 times the natural rate observed over time.
We could of course continue acting as if we don’t care. However, it might then only be a matter of time before we find ourselves on the list of those 200 species.
